Indianapolis prepares on two timelines

Alec Pierce could return to practice this week after missing all of camp following ankle surgery. Tyler Warren, nursing a groin injury, will remain managed with Week 1 as the target.

The Colts want two important targets back without turning the preseason finale into a medical test. Their availability matters more than Saturday’s repetitions.

Anthony Richardson will start against Detroit, while Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor rest. The game will primarily sort out roles behind the starters.

Pierce and Warren’s progress over the next two weeks will determine the weapons available when the season opens.
